It's a stand-alone application that installs on the local computer and allows the use of local audio and video devices with a client on a virtual desktop. The Lync VDI plug-in was developed for Lync 2013 and is compatible with either the Lync 2013 or Skype for Business 2015 client running on a virtual desktop. Support will only be provided for enabling the Skype for Business user(s) with the necessary policies on the server. There are three solutions available for the VDI plug-in component, offered by Microsoft, Citrix, or VMWare.

Please note that this solution is not optimal and it is recommended to run Skype for Business on a local PC instead of a virtual desktop. If you want to copy the recording to another device, select the recording and click Browse to open the file manager to the folder containing the recording.Using Skype for Business in a VDI environment In the Recording Manager, select the recording and click Play to play the recording back. Click the Options icon in the Skype for Business main window, then select Tools -> Recording Manager. When the recording is available, you can use the Recording Manager to view, rename or manage the recording. You can exit Skype for Business at any time and the video will still be saved. It will take a few minutes for the video to be saved after recording is stopped. The default location is Documents > Videos > Lync Recordings.

The recording will be saved in MP4 format. When you’re done, click the Stop button or select More Options -> Stop Recording. Use the controls at the bottom of the screen to pause, resume, or stop the recording. A message will pop up to inform all participants that the meeting is being recorded, and a red recording button will show at the top right of the screen. Then select Start Recording from the menu.
